Chiropractors have long been deficient when it comes to innovative marketing. Most fail to learn or apply the important lessons of business management when it comes to their practice. They have a great deal of technical knowledge, but lack common business sense. Times are changing, however, and those who are willing to open their minds to new ideas will see themselves pull ahead quickly from the pack. A slowing economy doesn't need to be a threat when you have the tools to effectively market your business in today's digital world.

Times have changed dramatically over the last 3 years and so has the communication dynamic. The learners will adapt and prosper while the learned will suffer severe economic consequences because of dinosaur ways of thinking. If you are one who looks to stay on the cutting-edge of new marketing and technology then you take action and establish a presence on social networks like Myspace, YouTube, and Facebook.

For the past few years, I have been teaching chiropractors and other professionals how to leverage the power of social media and see massive, real benefits in their businesses. I am the author and creator of a system that has literally transformed the chiropractic profession and the way practitioners are marketing themselves.

When I first starting using social networks, I knew that they held unlimited potential for generating tons of new patients and creating more interest in my business. I spent countless hours working on and perfecting a system that would consistently give me positive results.

Social networks are free to join, and anyone can become a member. You are able to set up a public profile and join a vast, global community of people from all walks of life. The key to working in these communities, however, is not as simple as signing up and sending spam advertisements to other members. In fact, doing just that will get you kicked off the site and/or irritate other members to the point that your reputation will be virtually worthless. Those who have failed at social networking are guilty of just this type of behavior. The key to getting the most out of your efforts on these sites is working with someone who has experience doing the same thing.

The key to marketing in social networks comes down to credibility. If people perceive you as trustworthy, normal, and friendly you will be welcomed as a 'friend'. If however, you attack your contacts with a traditional marketing campaign, you will fail miserably. You must be able to give your contacts and friends something of value. Serious thought needs to be put in to the design of your profile page, and the kind of information you place on it. To compete in Web 2.0 your pages must be interesting, informative, and most importantly-fun

Similarly, video marketing has become enormously popular on YouTube. There are millions of videos on the site, and you are competing with some of the most interesting stuff ever captured on a camera. You don't have to be Steven Spielberg, but there has to be some kind of thought put in to your video presentation.

The fun and profitability of social networking is unparalleled in the world of marketing. For those who understand how to use these sites, you will see immediate benefits from being a part of them. However, it is important to understand the 'lay of the land' and to have an experienced guide as you set out to conquer your own corner of the internet.
