Testing Your Niche Against The Market...

If you've never tried a PPC campaign, a great idea is to begin with a small budget so you can test your market place.

Testing helps you to find out what your 'future customers' are looking for. Google is a great place to test a new campaign. When you place an ad with Google, you'll end up with an ad in the 'sponsored links' search results.

If you have not seen these small ads within Google, go do a search on Google for just about anything you can think of. Now, take a close look at the results, you'll see the the results are separated into two groups. Natural, organic results and the paid 'sponsored links' results.

Please do yourself a favor and dedicate yourself to a small ad within Google in order to learn the ropes, but use caution. Placing an advertisement sounds simple in theory, but you must be in control of daily account limits. Set a budget and be prepared to invest in clicks to test your niche. You need to find out what keywords and phrases your potential customers are searching for in Google when it comes to your niche.

Keyword selection is not guess work. If you're on your game, you would use tools that give you a look into your niche. There are lots of choices when it comes to tools to do this job. Some free one's like Google's keyword tool, then there is state of the art software like Google Cash Detective 2 that let you spy on your opposition to save you testing a niche.

In my opinion keyword research is crucial, especially if you have a limited advertising budget. You should drill down into your niche and build a keyword list based on high search volume and ideally low advertiser competition.

When you put your chosen keyword phrase into your PPC campaign, each will be give a score, called a quality score. This score is set by Google, based on there assessment of a keywords relevance to your ad and your landing page. You need to get a high quality score for all your keywords. If your keywords have a high quality score, then you should see Google giving you cheaper clicks and better ad placements.
