Psychometric Evaluation can help employers find good leadership qualities among the many applicants for a job. to find future leaders? An organization that promotes from within will have very little trouble recognizing potential leaders because a past job performance is usually a good measurement of leadership skills and abilities. However, the organization may see a deficit in available leaders and may want to recruit possible leaders among graduating college seniors or recent college graduates. One of the best tools to determine future leaders is a talent assessment.

An organization may be in the process of upgrading or revamping an existing company-sponored leadership training program. Such an assessment would be an easy addition to the psychometric assessment given to applicants to determine aptitude and personality. A leadership assessment could be added to a psychometric assessment that consists of aptitude testing and personality assessment.

The talent testng could be geared toward identifying the twelve characteristics of a leader listed below:

1. Carefulness. A good leader plans and thinks carefully before he speaks or acts.

2. Cooperation - the willingness to work with others toward a common goal

3. Creativity - the ability and willingness to think "outside the box".

4. Discipline - a willingness to being responsible and dependable

5. Goodwill. A leader does not hold grudges and always thinks the best of others.

6. Influence - ability to impress others by speaking with authority.

7. Optimism - tendency toward a positive attitude and having confidence in favorable outcomes,

8. Order - the natural tendency toward organization

9. Savvy. A leader is skilled at reading people and can detect hidden needs and intentions.

10. Sociability. A leader enjoys people whether he is at work, at home, or in social events.

11. Stability - calm and rational no matter what the circumstances are

12. Striving. A leader is able to push hard and work hard towards goals.

There are many assessments that measure leadership potential in the marketplace. A company may also develop their own leadership potential test in order to customize the test to help choose the best candidates. The talent assessment can help an organization save time by looking for leadership abilities at the same time it is hiring. If a company's senior leaders are retiring within a few years, this assessment can be given every time there is a job opening in the company so that new potential leaders can be trained and transitioned smoothly into the vacated positions.
